Getting started and connecting Google

Create your account, set up two-factor sign-in, connect Google and bring in your locations.

Create your account

Choose Create an account on the sign-in page and enter your name, email and a password of at least 8 characters.

Two-factor sign-in is required for every account. Right after sign-up you scan a code with an authenticator app, then enter the 6 digit code it shows. You also get backup codes. Keep them somewhere safe.

If you were invited, open the link in your invitation first. The email address is filled in for you.

Add a client

A client groups the locations and people of one business or brand. Open Settings, then Clients, and create one.

Connect your Google account

  1. Open Settings, then Google connection. Only owners and admins can connect or disconnect.
  2. Choose Connect Google account and sign in with the Google account that manages the business profiles.
  3. On Google's screen, tick the Business Profile box. Without it the connection is refused and you are asked to try again.

You can connect more than one Google account. Disconnecting stops SynGMB managing that account's profiles.

Needs setup. Connecting needs the server to have Google sign-in keys set. If it does not, the page says Google is not set up on this server.

Bring in your locations

  1. Open Locations, then Import from Google.
  2. Choose the Google account and load its locations.
  3. Tick the locations you want, then import them. You can import up to 100 at a time.

Imported locations start a first review sync in the background, so reviews appear a little later. Turn a location on or off from the Locations list. Posts and syncing only use active locations.

Needs setup. Sending changes to Google (publishing replies and posts, editing a profile, adding photos) only works once Google has approved this app's access to Business Profile and the server has writes turned on. Until then the app shows a notice on the page, and you can still draft, check and approve. Nothing reaches Google.
