Why OpenGMB

OpenGMB manages Google Business Profiles with approval first. Rules check each draft, an approval publishes it, and the whole thing runs through the official Google API. One price covers the account, and your own AI agent works inside the same rules. Here is why we built it that way.

Why does OpenGMB put approval first?

Most tools publish whatever you type, and a bad reply or a wrong phone number goes live in seconds. In OpenGMB, posts, profile edits and replies wait in an approvals inbox, and the audit log records who approved each change.

Rules check the text before anyone can approve it. A reply with a link is blocked by U7.url, an email address by U7.email, and impossible opening hours by PR.hours-valid. The block shows the rule id, so you know what to fix.

There is one reply exception, and the owner has to turn it on: auto-approve for 4- or 5-star reviews. Replies to 1 to 3 star reviews always need a person. For AI agents, you choose how much your agent can do.

How guardrails and approvals work

Does OpenGMB use the official Google API?

Yes. OpenGMB connects through the official Google Business Profile API, using your own Google sign-in and the permission you grant. There is no scraping and no shared login.

That matters because profiles are the front door of a local business. A tool that works around Google's rules puts the listing at risk, and the listing is the thing you are paying to protect. You can remove OpenGMB's access from your Google account at any time.

Why is there one price per account?

An account costs $10 a month, however many locations it holds, and the $10 is usage credit for AI drafts and rank scans at our cost plus 28%. Google Business Profile calls are free, with a fair-use limit.

For an agency with 10 locations and no AI drafts or rank scans, the bill is $10.00, or $1.00 a location. A tool that charges $10 for each location would cost $100.00 for the same ten.

Can I use Claude or another AI agent with it?

Yes. OpenGMB runs a Google Business Profile MCP server at https://opengmb.synectus.com/mcp, included on the $10 plan. Claude Code takes one command, and Claude Desktop, ChatGPT and Cursor connect with a token.

Other tools offer MCP access too, so we do not claim to be the only one. What we do is run an agent's work through the same rules and approvals as a person's, and let you choose how much your agent can do. Tokens can be read-only, and you can revoke one at any time.

What is still being built?

Rank tracking shows labeled sample data while we connect the live data provider. Some features on the public roadmap are not built yet, and the roadmap says which.

We would rather tell you now than have you find out after you sign up.
