What does Birdeye offer, and what does it cost?

Birdeye does not publish prices. Its pricing page describes pricing built around outcomes, not seat counts (verified 2026-10-24), and the price comes after you fill in a form (verified 2026-10-24). A third party, CostBench, reports per-location tiers, which are listed below as reported figures and not as Birdeye's own.

Who is Birdeye for, and who is OpenGMB for?

Birdeye fits you if

  • You run many locations and want reviews, listings, social and messaging on one contract.
  • You want reviews from more than Google: every site, in one place (verified 2026-10-24).
  • You want approval rules set once for the whole brand: approval thresholds are set once at the corporate level and inherited by every location (verified 2026-10-24).

OpenGMB fits you if

  • You run Google Business Profile reviews, posts and profile edits, and you want them to go through approval before they go live.
  • You want to read the price before you talk to anyone.
  • You want to connect Claude or another MCP client to your profiles.

How do OpenGMB and Birdeye compare at a glance?

Birdeye cells come from its own pages, and each links to the page it came from. Where a page did not say, the cell reads "not publicly listed".

How much does Birdeye cost?

How much does OpenGMB cost, with two examples?

OpenGMB is $10 a month per account, and the $10 is usage credit. Google calls are free, with a fair-use limit. AI drafts and rank scans use the credit, both at our cost plus 28%. If the credit runs out, only AI drafts and rank scans pause. A typical reply draft is about $0.0004. That is an estimate, not a price: each draft is charged at its metered cost plus 28%. The usage numbers below are our own assumptions, not averages.

Owner, 1 location

A month with no AI drafts and no rank scans costs the flat $10. A typical month adds 30 AI drafts and 4 rank scans on a 5x5 grid. That uses about $0.09 of the $10, so the bill is $10.

Birdeye shows no price for one location. CostBench reports Starter at $299 (reported by CostBench, 2026-10-24) per location a month, billed annually, which is a reported figure and not a quote.

Agency, 10 locations

A month with no AI drafts and no rank scans costs the flat $10. A typical month adds 150 AI drafts and 20 rank scans on a 7x7 grid. That uses about $0.81 of the $10, so the bill is $10.

At 10 locations you would pick one of Birdeye's location choices (1-3, 4-9, 10-39, 40-249, 250-999 and 1000+ locations (verified 2026-10-24)) and ask for a quote. We do not multiply CostBench's per-location figure by ten, because it reports a custom quote through sales (reported by CostBench, 2026-10-24).

Why do people look for a Birdeye alternative?

We only list reasons that Birdeye's own pages support.

  • The price sits behind a form. Birdeye's pricing page says the price comes after you fill in a form (verified 2026-10-24).
  • The price depends on your locations and on what you deploy: one platform and one contract, and you pay only for what you deploy at your locations (verified 2026-10-24).
  • If your work is Google Business Profile reviews and posts, a platform that reaches Reviews, Listings, Surveys, Social, Ticketing, AI Search and Insights (verified 2026-10-24) may be more than you need.
  • Social posts go to your social accounts. Birdeye's page says posts are drafted, scheduled and published to the social accounts you connect (verified 2026-10-24), and it does not name Google Business Profile posts.

What is different about OpenGMB?

Approval first

Posts and profile edits need approval, and so do replies unless the owner turns on auto-approve for 4- or 5-star reviews. Rules such as U7.url and PR.description-length check the text first, and the audit log records who approved.

MCP

Connect Claude or any MCP client to https://opengmb.synectus.com/mcp. It is included on the $10 plan. A read only token cannot change anything. A read and write token acts with its owner's rights, so some actions return a proposal and others, such as approving a reply, run straight away.

One price per account

$10 a month, and the $10 is usage credit for AI drafts and rank scans, both at real cost plus 28%. Ten locations do not cost ten times as much. Google calls are free, with a fair-use limit.

See how approvals work on the guardrails page or read about the Google Business Profile MCP.

Where is Birdeye stronger?

Honestly, in several places. If any of these matter to you, Birdeye is the better pick.

  • Reviews beyond Google. Birdeye covers reviews from every site, in one place (verified 2026-10-24). OpenGMB reads Google only.
  • Text messages. Birdeye's Messaging page lists text review and referral requests (verified 2026-10-24). OpenGMB sends review requests by email and offers links, QR codes and a website widget, with no SMS.
  • Listings. Birdeye's listings agent works across Google, Facebook, Apple, Yelp and Bing (verified 2026-10-24), and approval is required by default (verified 2026-10-24). OpenGMB has no listings or citation tools.
  • Breadth. Birdeye's MCP server reaches Reviews, Listings, Surveys, Social, Ticketing, AI Search and Insights (verified 2026-10-24), and its AI Search tracks visibility on Google, ChatGPT and Perplexity at every location (verified 2026-10-24). OpenGMB covers Google Business Profile only.
  • Rules for a large brand. approval thresholds are set once at the corporate level and inherited by every location (verified 2026-10-24).

How do you switch from Birdeye to OpenGMB?

  1. List what you use in Birdeye. If it is non-Google reviews, listings or messaging, keep that part.
  2. Start with the $0.50 of free credit. No card needed.
  3. Connect Google with the official Business Profile API and import your locations. The 23 health checks run on each one.
  4. Connect Claude over MCP, or use the built-in AI drafts. Start the agent on a read only token and approve the first replies by hand.
  5. Check Birdeye's contract terms before you cancel. CostBench reports that contracts auto-renew, with a 1 year minimum (reported by CostBench, 2026-10-24).
