Google review reply checker
Paste a reply to a Google review and see if it would pass the rules OpenGMB runs before a reply goes live. It looks for links, stock phrases and length problems. For healthcare and legal pages it adds privacy and wording rules. It is free, needs no account, and saves nothing.
Google's limit for a reply is 4,096 bytes. Source, checked 2026-10-12.
What you get
The real rule engine
Your reply runs through the same checks the app uses, so a pass here means the same thing it means inside OpenGMB.
Industry rules
Pick healthcare or legal and the matching pack turns on. Healthcare checks catch patient details and privacy wording. Legal checks catch promises about results.
Plain reasons
Each finding names the rule, says whether it blocks or only warns, and shows the words that set it off.
Questions about this checker
Where do the rules for the reply checker come from?
They come from the same rule engine OpenGMB runs before anything goes live. This page calls it with your text and shows you the result. Nothing here is a lookalike.
Do you save what I paste?
No. The text is checked and thrown away. It is not stored, not logged, and not used to train anything. Closing the tab ends it.
How long can a reply to a Google review be?
Google's reference says a reply can be up to 4,096 bytes. That is bytes, not characters, so accented letters and emoji count for more than one. The checker counts it the way Google does. Source checked 2026-10-12.
Why does my healthcare reply to a 5 star review get blocked?
A new healthcare workspace in OpenGMB does not reply to 4 and 5 star reviews, because a thank-you can confirm that someone is a patient. The checker follows that default. Tick the box in the form if your practice does reply to them, and the check changes.
What can this check not see?
Two rules compare a reply with your last 30 published replies, to catch repeats. Only the app has that history, so the result lists them as not checked.
Is there a limit on how many checks I can run?
The tool is free and needs no account. To keep it available for everyone, it allows about 20 checks a minute from one connection. A person pasting text will not notice.
Does a pass mean my text follows Google's policies or the law?
No. A pass means none of our rules found a problem. It is not legal advice, and it does not promise Google will accept the text. The legal rules are still waiting on review by a lawyer, and results from them say so.
Want these checks on every reply and post?
OpenGMB costs $10 a month per account. New accounts get a 14-day trial with $0.50 credit and no card. A person approves posts and profile edits before they go live, and replies too unless you turn on auto-approve for 4 and 5 star reviews.
